Each faction would have a unique advantage in the game. For example: Yellow faction: Unique 'E' (experimental) upgrades would be available, referring to the upgrades Kard Argon blew up in the research nexus. - Drill power E: Drill through hard rock, acts like drill power MK-0 when drilling through it.
- Propeller E: Allows you to fly up to the shuttle and do whatever there, then get dropped down either at the top of the map or the bottom. (either that, or could allow upwards drilling?)
- Optics E: Different ores/crystals/ whatever would get different colours. E.g therazene would come up as a blue gas, vespene as green, amarthene as purple, etc.
- Utility slots E: Would allow up to 20 of each consumable carried.
- Item capacity E: Allow 500 items carried.
- Drill fuel usage E: No fuel used by drill.
- Drill heat generation E: 75% less heat.
- Drill resource quality E: 5x resource gathering.
...You get the idea. Green faction would get the ability to travel to many more planets (up to 20 on any galaxy screen) With at least one of each planet type (e.g volcanic aerial, glacial aquatic, etc.). Blue faction would get a x3 creature spawning on aquatic planets, due to Erbium Sun's cloning facility. (Also, if this needs a lot of changes, look at other games where the gameplay has completely changed, as has much of the coding with it. Look at minecraft. Many changes to the code have been made. Pretty sure millions of lines were changed in ONE update. Imagine the work put into it. but it happened. So, you really need to put your back into it to get the big things in. Y'know, just sayin' )

Isn't it a too big advantage for Yellow? Also, experimental upgrades mean that the bot will have a chance at blowing up For other factions, I don't see how having 20 planets on planet selection screen for green faction helps playing ONE planet, and how does it correlate with green faction's goal.

Minecraft has been selling for thousands of units daily for years now, at 20 a pop. Lets not delude ourselves on the scope that is attainable here. We do want to improve the game, but there won't be any millions of lines of code changes. We we work on whatever we think will have the biggest impact in terms of creating new gameplay opportunities.

If I may add my two cents to this, how about adding a +10% bonus for the faction's 'planet' you're in for the resources you gather, no change in the previous faction and a -10% decrease for the next faction? I'll try to make it sound clearer; Say you chose Blue Faction so if you apply my 'bonus', whenever you enter an aquatic world, you would get a 10% bonus in resources and if you enter a terrestrial world, no change would happen in resources gathered but if you entered an aerial world you would have a -10% decrease in resources gathered. I think a table would help (especially me) Starting Faction/Bonus Pecentage | -10% | +0% | +10% | Green | Blue | Yellow | Green | Blue | Yellow | Green | Blue | Yellow | Green | Blue | Yellow |
Just some food for thought, if you think it's too troublesome to apply with the current boost system, I understand

My idea would be a special consumable for each of the factions.
For Green, I'd imagine a Wormhole Device, a single-use, short-range, one-way teleport. When you activate it, you can click on any free space within sight, and you are teleported there immediately.
For Yellow, there might by a high-powered Laser. Activate it and press any arrow key. Then, a 10-meter laser beam will shoot in that direction and remove everything!
For Blue I thought either of a cloned sterile Fungus, which can be used as a replacement platform and a jumping pad, but that appeared too weak for me, so I rather thought about a Climbing Vine similar to those found on aerial planets, though when activating it, you can press one of the arrow keys to make it grow in any direction, about 5 or 6 meters. You can climb and walk on that thing however you like. If it still seems too weak, it might also be able to cleanse you from bacteria and fungus spores and produce oxygen and fuel, while your on it. Still too weak? It might be able to destabilize solid rock adjacent to it, that you can drill through it. Well, just say stop.
I also had in mind, that you can take these consumables with you on those special challenge planets.

I also had in mind, that you can take these consumables with you on those special challenge planets. I unfortunately have to disagree with this idea, especially Greens consumable. A one time use device that could transport you anywhere on the planet just one time? Sure, that works for normal digs but not for special mission. It much, MUCH too heavily favors green as they could literally get to the objective in about 10 seconds flat. Even if you do limit the range for it on challenge planets, it's much too powerful as it will easily say let you bypass rocks if you're out of dynamite. However, Yellow has an interesting idea although I do question if this also raises the challenge of mining on aerial planets seeing as each planet has a fixed downside. Green being you have to make ledges (assuming you don't like using the teleport pad), Blue has constant damage while digging and Yellow cannot dig upwards. Should Yellow be granted this advantage, then they will manage to overcome their challenge if only for a one time use. But the teleport pad can fix that should they so choose to. Blue... I don't think that advantage really would do anything. Air can be easily gathered from staying near chests or plant life seeing as they constantly generate it so there is no need for that aspect. Your vines idea could be modified however, seeing as Seaweed could also be an option instead of choosing to extend said vine and 'bouncing' would be unnecessary since you can just go in any direction you wish in an aquatic world. Just a few thoughts on this as I do love debates (though in real life I tend to stutter quite a bit)
