Ever had THAT annoying cave that interferes with your orderly mining operations? Perhaps a metal platform may help. Perhaps an Auto Extending metal platform? Crafted with: a couple spur gears, some layered plating, a reinforced frame and an internal combustion engine, it would be placed with a click on a wall of our choice, and would automatically place down a metal bridge which would extend from the place you set this consumable to a section just opposite at the same level.
However, this is expensive and not needed for just annoying little gaps of 1 or 2 metres which are irritating you. This is when the normal metal platform comes in. A bit cheaper, requiring just a reinforced frame and layered plating (no need for engines or gears) and you can place down a single metal bridge section.
What would be the point in the Auto extending one? Well, the Auto extending variant can be more cost effective for tunnels that run just one metre below your mine. Or of course if you have loads of materials to throw around.
Wait, there is some materials you want just below your bridge? no problem, you can jump up and fall through these bridges. Kinda like platforms off Terraria if you have played it before.
