First of all, thank you for 2 great games (love glean1 as well)
I think the balance of materials is a bit off. In glean 1 you were always looking for iron, but it is ready available, so no problem. In Glean 2 you are always looking for chitin, pure water, pearls and viscera. The latter is the biggest issue. Either the recipes need to be adjusted to less viscera or there needs to be a bigger source of it. Maybe the background fish in the aquatic planets could be used for this.
Strage gloop, aberrant matter, plasma and unstable isotopes are also running out quickly, but I consider that a feature.

Same here on the viscera. The viscera resource is used too much for the rarity of the creature that drops it.

Thirded on Viscera. (i like that its tubes though mostly. using veins and arteries as tubes in a robot, how grisly! )

I've never had problems with viscera, but pearls, chitin, and pure water are definitely slowing down my attempts to get the last few upgrades. Solar cells seemed like they'd be another rate limiting component, but fortunately I got about seventy of them from a very high chest on an aerial world. It's nice how it gave you more and more over time.
I can't recall having any trouble myself with viscera, but maybe I played an updated version where the creatures gave more.

With the last update viscera will again be the most limiting resource with back to 15/planet, regardless of drill quality (honestly it shouldn't apply indeed, because you can't drill more out of a species than there is already ), I still have to check for aerials how does viscera drop in there, still 1/creature or actually more.

Personally, I never really go to terrestrial worlds (only aerial and aquatic due to the fact you can move around easily) so I always have a shortage of coal. However, you end up getting so much bacteria you dont even know. Also, viscera is always in a shortage.
